NHDC Local Development Plan – Further Public Hearing Sessions

Along with our Neighbourhood Plan, NHDC’s Local Plan will determine how our villages are impacted in the future. The Planning Inspector considering the Local Development Plan wrote to NHDC in July and August 2019 to signal a number of concerns he had about the draft plan and he eventually decided that further public hearing sessions would be needed through which to address the issues he was raising. The Parish Council has made a written submission on matters concerning the development of the Green Belt and rural villages beyond the Green Belt, pointing out that the development of some Green Belt land adjacent to large conurbations may be inherently more sustainable than the development of villages such as Barkway. The Parish Council also signalled it would be represented in person at several sessions; these sessions were postponed in March but had been rescheduled to take place remotely between Monday 28th September and Friday 23rd October. We now understand that these hearing sessions have been postponed for a further two weeks and will commence on Monday 12th October.

Details of the schedule of hearings will be posted here once the information becomes available.
